We hope everyone is well and enjoying the spring golf season! We welcome all new members that now call Champlain Country Club their “home course.”
With the influx of new members, the Board capped membership for the 2021 season to ensure a positive experience and tee time availability. Once we have a feel for how things run at this capacity for an entire season, we will reevaluate the membership cap.
Deck Renovation Fundraising
The Opening Scramble was a great success. Over $7,000 was raised for the new covered deck project. As a reminder, the existing deck will remain open to the sunshine, and the new covered deck will be off the Members’ Lounge. Be on the lookout for the next fundraiser: a Calcutta scheduled for June 26th. Details will be made available soon in the Pro Shop and Clubhouse, on the website, and on FaceBook.
Annual Meeting
The Annual Meeting will be held on May 23rd at 6:00PM at the Clubhouse. We encourage everyone to join us as this is an opportunity to voice your concerns and make your suggestions, view the financials, meet the staff and Board, as well as the candidates running for the Board.
If you have not returned your proxy to the Pro Shop, you can vote in person at the meeting. If you plan to attend, please let the Pro Shop know so we can prepare enough packets and advise the kitchen of a head count for the appetizers that will be provided. If you cannot attend and would like a copy of the financials, please let the Pro Shop know and a packet will be prepared for you.
Course News
Mother Nature has finally decided to warm us up after a cool and wet early spring. The Maintenance Crew is doing their best to wake up the course and whip it back into shape; improvements can be seen every day.
The crew have been working on a few projects this spring:
- rebuilding the mid-tee on #11,
- cutting back lots of brush,
- creating a new flowerbed on #17 tee,
- continuing work on the black tee on #1,
- planting new trees and relocating others,
- and much more.
Soon, we will start bunker renovations as well. We are excited to finish these improvements and move onto other ideas.
Pro Shop & ForeUp
Thank you everyone for welcoming Karen to the team this Spring.
Please be on the lookout for specials on select merchandise. Also, we will be showing our appreciation for military and first responders. We will now offer these groups a 10% discount on greens fees, cart rentals, and shop merchandise.
We have received mostly positive feedback regarding the new ForeUp system; however, there are bound to be some bumps with any new implementation. We hope you are finding it useful and value your feedback. Please contact the Pro Shop if you have any issues.
As a reminder, the sign-in sheet for the Men’s Member-Member is in the shop, please enter your team as this will fill up quickly.
Ladies on the Links
The Ladies were able to have their first event on the 20th of May. The turnout was great with 18 players! We hope to see everyone this week and the next.
Restaurant & Clubhouse
We, at Fiddler’s on the Green, very much appreciate the support from all of our members and guests as we start our first season. We have struggled with finding staff, so please reach out to Jenny Fournier if you or someone you know is interested in working in the restaurant. We are striving to make this the best experience for everyone.
Because we are short-staffed, we will be changing to a limited menu that consists of members’ favorites and daily specials until we have a full staff. When you are coming off the turn, please refer to the right side of the bar where the Turn Sign is located, and we will be happy to assist you with your drinks or food. We ask that you make a reservation if you are coming off the course with a bigger group so that we can plan accordingly, especially Wednesday through Saturday.
Let us look forward to a nice long season. Thank you for being part of the Champlain Country Club family. Please let us know if you have any questions or comments: golf@champlaincountryclub.com.
