I hope that everyone had a great winter and is ready for an exciting season at Champlain Country Club. We have had a busy off season with several projects being completed on the course and in the clubhouse.
Our targeted opening date is now this weekend (4/12 or 4/13); however, that—as always—is weather and conditions dependent. Chris Saylor and his staff have been busy getting equipment ready and prepping the course for opening day. Some projects on the course will continue this spring; we’re excited for you to check out the improvements.
- Several large trees on the 7th tee as well as on the 12th, 13th, and 15th have been removed.
- Island Excavating did a great job completing the pond wall and tee project. Their great reputation is certainly well deserved, and we thank them.
- The 7th tee will be leveled and sodded as soon as conditions allow.
- The 1st tee/Pro Shop project will be completed as soon as the weather allows.
- The 18th green project has started. We anticipate only the back of the green being out of play for the early spring season.
The Clubhouse renovation has been completed thanks to an incredible crew of volunteers that came together and gave countless hours of their time to completely renovate the space. We hope that you will enjoy the upgrades.
Our new restaurant, Irons & Ale at the Club, has opened, and we have been fortunate to hire Lindsay Hunn as our general manager. Please be patient this spring as the new team comes together. We have had a few soft openings and the number of people that have come to support the restaurant has been incredible. In members’ welcome packages, you will find a schedule of events that will be happening throughout the season. Also, we will be very strict about enforcing the prohibition of outside alcoholic beverages on the course. Unfortunately, breaking this rule could result in a membership suspension.
Please be sure to share your feedback about the course, clubhouse, and restaurant with us. You, the members, are our focus. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to welcome everyone back to Champlain for the 2024 season. We are ready for the best season ever, have fun and hit them straight!
