Construction Assessment Survey

Recently, a survey was emailed to Champlain Country Club’s membership to help the Board determine if there is support for three major renovations, which would be partially funded by an assessment. The proposed construction assessment of $150 per member for two years, coupled with a yet-to-be determined surcharge on greens fees, would pay for the refurbishment of the bunkers, reconstruction of the 18th green, and the replacement of a 30-year old irrigation pump. Additional details on the assessment, proposed renovations, and funding can be found in our Construction Assessment FAQ.

Several area courses have used an assessment to successfully complete similar undertakings. However, we need to hear from more members as this impacts the future of the course. The board tries to operate frugally, but this initiative must be weighed carefully. For example, the above-mentioned pump was evaluated by a professional who determined that it’s well past its life expectancy and could stop operating at any time. If this pump were to fail during a dry period, a replacement could take several weeks to get online and could leave the course severely damaged.

Although we requested survey responses by this Friday, we are allowing more time to respond because we want to hear as many member voices as possible. If you are a member but you have not received the survey, please send your name and email address to golf@champlaincountryclub.com. We will ensure that you receive a copy of the survey via email. There will also be a few copies of the survey in the Pro Shop if you prefer to complete and return a hard copy. Over 150 responses have been received so far, and we look forward to hearing from more of our membership.
